Eu zic sa nu confundati CANDU care e capabil sa foloseasca U-nat (adica sarac in 235) sau U foarte putin imbogatit, cu un reactor care utilizeaza deseurile altui reactor.
In "schema" de combustibil mentionata de @einstein, se utilizeaza combustibilii de la reactori care au nevoie de imbogatire mare de 235. In utilizarea la acei reactori scade imbogatirea pana la un nivel la care reactorii respectivi devin ineficienti (energetic, economic...). Dar este inca suficient 235 in acei combustibili pt a fi utilizati eficient la CANDU.
Reactorii "de deseuri" nucleare au ca principal scop transmutatia izotopilor de viata (foarte) lunga din deseurile celorlalti reactori in izotopi cu timpi de viata ceva mai scurti.

Ideea este alta, nu ca se gasesc unii sa faca pe interesantii sa explice cate tipuri sunt.
A fost gasita o modalitate de a transforma deseurile nucleare nefolosite.
