Which engines are the best on the market?

I am starting to look for a new, used car. I don’t have anything specific in mind yet. This time, I would like to start my search from the engine. What engines are the best in your opinion? What engines should I avoid?

1.6l MPI, the best engine!
1,5DCi, 90Cp and up but without adblue.
1,2TCe is not a good option in MHO.

In my opinion, used car and engine quality depends a lot on how it was looked after. If oil was changed on time and etc. But I found this interesting articlethis interesting article about the worst engines. Maybe this can help you to make a decision.

you mean the one where the con rod knocks in the first week after delivery and romanian dealer says it's ok? That one?
p.S. article above is crap, renault G9T wasn't good, neither was vw 1.2 tsi or PD.

Indestructible engine. Not even major fault don't break the engine. Still running.
