The new 5 Series sedan will launch with one eight-cylinder and three six-cylinder petrol engines as well as two six-cylinder diesels. Approximately three months later, the range will be rounded off by a direct injection four-cylinder turbodiesel.

Starting with the petrol units at the top of the range, the 550i TwinPower Turbo V8 makes 300 kW/407 hp, 535i twin turbo straight-six delivers 225 kW/306 hp, while the two straight-six engines with direct injection develop 190 kW/258 hp in the BMW 528i and, 150 kW/204 hp in the BMW 523i, respectively. For the diesels, the 530d produces 180 kW/245 hp and the 525d with 150 kW/204 hp. Lastly, the 520d and its four-cylinder makes 135 kW/184hp boasting an average fuel consumption figure in the EU5 test cycle at 5.2 litres/100 kilometres, the CO2 emission rating is 137 g/km (provisional figures with automatic transmission). BMW's new eight-speed automatic transmission is available as standard on all models (in Germany).

For the front suspension BMW is doing away with the MacPherson strut system that has been in use since 1965 and adopts a more sophisticated multi-link system already seen on the 7-Series F01. The rear suspension has been upgraded as well but remains the same in principle, also as a multi-link system. When equipped with a Sport Package, Adaptive Drive is added which includes Driving Dynamics Control, Dynamic Damping Control and Active Roll Stabilization. Optional Integral Active Steering will virtually extend or shorten the vehicle's wheelbase for improved stability at high speeds and enhanced agility at lower speeds.

BMW EfficientDynamics technologies are featuring as standard Brake Energy Regeneration, a gearshift point indicator, active air flap control, and on-demand operation of ancillary units including a detachable a/c compressor. Body construction features aluminum components such as the doors, hood, front fenders and suspension to reduce weight.

A tour de force of driver's aid and infotainment features are available on the 5-Series. They include a Parking Assistant, Surround View, collision warning with application of the brakes in conjunction with Active Cruise Control plus Stop & Go, and a new Speed Limit Device. Further features also available are Lane Change Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Speed Limit Info, a Head-Up Display, a High-Beam Assistant, BMW Night Vision with detection of individual persons, Park Distance Control and a back-up camera.

The latest fourth generation of BMW iDrive control appears in two versions: with 7.0-in. dimensions and 800 x 480-pixel resolution in standard form, or with the optional Navigation system, in a 10.2-in., 1280 x 480-pixel version with a wider range of features and functions as in the new BMW 7 Series. Displays are transreflective so that light from the sun actually makes the images on the screen brighter.

The 5-Series will be built at BMW Plant Dingolfing along side the new 2009 BMW 7 Series F01. The 5-Series F10 is based on the same architecture as the 7-Series as both vehicles extensively share components.

Nu vad insa camerele laterale din bara fata, totusi e o Seria 5 si are limitarile sale la dotari.

BMW-urile au fost urate si acum 20 ani si acum 30 ani, in ultima decada au fost pur si simplu oribile, dar parca acuma incearca sa nu mai fie campioni in uratenie. Bravo lor .... finally ... o miscare buna.

Arata foarte bine. Linii fluide, bord foarte ergonomic desi e hi-tech. Totul pare inchegat si sunt convins ca este si asa.
Sigur este un pas inainte modelul asta.

Nu este putin ciudat c-au zis chestia asta oficial?

Imi place designul astuia nou, vechiu seria 5 nu prea mi-a placut deloc. Ciudat ca nu au mai pus deloc cutii manuale.

În condițiile în care automatele din zilele noastre sunt cel puțin la fel de performante, cutia manuală ar fi fost doar o soluție "low budget", și nu e cazul.

ai vazut tu cocalar care sa cumpere masina fara cutie automata....???

e norma sa foloseasca componenete comune.... motoare, cutii de viteze... diferentiale...ecu.....etc...

Personal prefer cutia automata de 10 ori in fata manualei, mai ales pe o astfel de masina.
Insa, inca mai sunt clienti care ar cumpara manuale. Pe mobile 30% din seria 5 fabricate din 2004 pana in 2009 au cutii manuale. 30% nu e chiar putin.

Nu doar cocalarii cumpara BMW in Romania(si mai ales nu noi). Intamplator chiar sambata am discutat cu un posesor de seria 3 din 2007, un om care se poate asocia cu imaginea masinii respective.

La capitolul motoare si cutii de viteza e normal sa foloseasca componente comune. Din cate inteleg eu de pe net sunt foarte multe alte componente comune intre cele 2. Nu m-as fi asteptat sa faca asta public de o asa maniera.


Oricum mie imi place, astept sa o iau la sh de la un mosulet din DE care a mers cu ea la piata timp de 5-6 ani. smile.gif

e frumoasa, dar parca e mai fada, la capitolul design, parca nu mai are personalitatea designului generatiei precedente, motoarele dau bine pe hartie, insa parerea mea e ca lipsa cutiei de viteze manuala macar ca si optional e un minus....

Mie imi place acest Seria 5, dar e putin aiurea ca e un Seria 7 in miniatura. Puteau fi mai diferite... Cat despre cutia automata, nu sunt un fan, dar o cutie tip DSG oricand!

Mai ales ca in traficul din B chiar te plictisesti sa tot dai de maneta. Plus ca eu observ ca (virgula) cu cat conduc mai mult, cu atat schimb din ce in ce mai prost. Ori mi se pare mie, ori la 18 ani schimbam mult mai ok decat acum biggrin.gif

Interiorul mult mai frumos decat la modelul anterior, exteriorul (mai ales fata) e insa mai comun, mai sters, mai putin deosebit decat la versiunea anterioara care personal imi placea mult ca design exterior, dar pe care o uram ca design interior.

@mircea_aq - nu te supara dar vorbesti prostii. Motorul ala a fost unul premiat, e un motor extraordinar. Iar la un motor conteaza multe aspecte, nu numai cilindreea si puterea (cateva ar mai fi - turatia de putere maxima, cuplul maxim si plaja de turatie pe are e repartizat, consumul, fiabilitatea, greutatea, rafinamentul, echilibrul). Comparatia ta e simplista. BMW a fost si este unul dinre cei mai buni motoristi.

Pana nu conduci un BMW cu acel motor nu poti avea o parere clara de ce se vrea din acel 6 in linie bi-turbo. Am avut placerea sa conduc un 335i un weekend intreg si bestie e putin spus, masina trage din orice turatie si nu domol ci brutal.

Mircea...de ce compari tu mere cu pere???
Unul e un motor de 2979 cm3 si 6 cilindri, iar celalat e un motor V6 de 3.7 litri. Deci intre ele e o diferenta de capacitate cilindrica de cca 0.7 litri. Si nu doar atat: fie ca ne place sau nu, toti constructorii se straduiesc sa produca motoare cu emisii reduse de CO2, si la capitolul asta BMW echipat cu motorul de mai sus sta mai bine ca un Infiniti de 3.7 litri. Mai exact, un 535i emite 199 gCO2/km, fata de un G37 care scoate 248 (transmisie manuala 6trepte), respactiv 246 gCO2/km (transmisie automata cu 7 rapoarte). Si diferenta dintre consumurile declarate de producator (in ciclul urban) e semnificativa: 11.8l/100km (BMW) fata de 15.3l/100km (G37).
Ca sa ma fac inteles: e usor sa faci un motor extrem de puternic (probabil ca BMW putea sa duca motorul asta la 360-380 CP), dar pierdea la capitolul emisii poluante, si aici se da in momentul de fata batalia.
Si mai sunt argumente, ca un motor de 320 CP nu e si in mod automat mai bun ca unul de 305...Si unele au fost enumerate de Andy cateva posturi mai sus., deci nu are rost sa le mai repet. Stii vorba aia...Nu conteaza inaltimea ci conteaza istetimea tongue.gif
