Creation of the Renault-Polytechnique-HEC Chair

“Multicultural Management and Corporate Performance”

Carlos Ghosn, President of Renault and President of the Renault Foundation, General Xavier Michel, President of Ecole Polytechnique, Bernard Ramanantsoa, Dean of Groupe HEC and Jean-Bernard Lartigue, General Manager of the Polytechnique Foundation, today signed a partnership agreement at Renault headquarters in Boulogne-Billancourt, in the presence of Yannick d’Escatha, President of the Ecole Polytechnique Board of Trustees, and Henri Proglio, President of the HEC Executive Board. This agreement creates the Renault-Polytechnique-HEC Chair in “Multicultural Management and Corporate Performance”.

Set up to sharpen the skills of young graduates, the Chair places particular emphasis on managerial practices geared to economic realities and to all types of cultural diversity : national, professional and organizational. It will also enable academics to conduct independent in-depth studies on multicultural organization and management. The Chair is held by Eric Godelier for Ecole Polytechnique and Eve Chiapelo for HEC (co-holder).

The expertise of Ecole Polytechnique and HEC graduates is recognized in France and internationally. In consequence, the two schools have developed international strategies that have naturally led them to develop the issue of multicultural management in their educational courses. Around forty students will be able to take advantage of this program of education and research.

Renault has become an international and multicultural company, primarily through its Alliance with Nissan and its acquisitions in Korea (Renault Samsung Motors) and Romania (Dacia). Renault’s managerial practices provide a strong basis for studies, education and research.

Set up in 2001, the Renault Foundation is part of the Group’s international outreach strategy. It seeks to encourage cultural exchanges between France, Europe and other parts of the world in which Renault is present in order to promote knowledge and education.
