Kangoo Génération 2007, extended range

Renault’s Kangoo range is evolving with Kangoo Génération 2007, for release in
December 2006.
Kangoo already set the benchmark for leisure activity vehicles, and is now raising the standard even higher by offering an even fuller range of equipment, including asymmetrically splittable rear seat, speed limiter, air conditioning and radio & CD player with steering-wheel controls. The new collection also introduces new upholsteries.
Kangoo Génération 2007 is available in three petrol versions (1.2 16V, 1.6 16V manual and 1.6 16V automatic) and three diesel versions (1.5 dCi 60 hp, 70 hp and 85 hp), with all engines meeting Euro 4 standards. A 1.2 LPG version remains on the catalogue for both Kangoo (passenger car) and Kangoo Express (van).

Enhanced appeal

Kangoo has led the way in leisure activity vehicles since it was released in October
1997, extolling better than any other the prime virtues of fun, functionality and
versatility. With features such as a compact footprint, two sliding side doors and vast stowage capacity, it has always held huge appeal across a broad family clientele. The simplified new collection includes six equipment levels: Kangoo, Authentique, Alizé, Privilège, Pampa, and the Galion special series.
With this new upgrade, Kangoo reasserts its strong personality as a fun, generous and modern leisure activity vehicle. Across-the-range facelift features include “crystal” indicator repeaters and teardrop-shaped lamp units. The trim levels have their own distinguishing features, starting with grey front and rear bumpers on Kangoo and Kangoo Authentique, self-coloured grey bumpers on Pampa and Privilège 4X4, and body-coloured bumpers on Alizé, Privilège and Galion. In addition, the Privilège and Galion versions have front and rear fascia bands and side protectors in camaieu shades.
Consistent with its mission of taking the “leisure vehicle” concept to new limits, the
Galion special series boasts distinctive styling and special features such as electric
panoramic sunroof, 4x15W radio and CD player, Saros 14’’ alloy wheels, and tinted
rear windows.
New hubcabs appear on Kangoo Authentique and Kangoo Alizé. And there’s a new
addition —Bleu Menthe— to the body colour chart.

Cascade of equipment

The passenger compartment of Kangoo Génération 2007 evolves to offer enhanced
style and comfort, with new interior fittings throughout the range. Kangoo and Kangoo Authentique get new upholstery in two-tone blue-carbon textile. And there’s a new interior for Kangoo Alizé and Kangoo Express Grand Confort. Front mats with colour trims appear on the Alizé, Privilège, Galion and Pampa trim levels. The rear seat is splittable asymmetrically on all models, for further enhanced functionality.
On Kangoo Alizé there’s a 2x15W radio & CD player with built-in display and steeringwheel controls. On the Galion special series and the Privilège, Pampa, and Privilège 4x4 versions, there’s a 4x15W radio & CD player with MP3 capability on option.
Air conditioning as standard fitting starts with the Alizé level.

Ever-higher safety levels

True to Renault’s safety policy, the new Kangoo range upgrades its panoply of safety equipment to stay best-in-class for safety. ABS and emergency braking assist are standard features across the Kangoo Génération 2007 range. The height-adjustable front seatbelts have pretensioners and programmed-restraint load limiters. The splittable rear seat has three retractable height-adjustable headrests. The rear seat is fitted with the Isofix child seat fastening system.
For trouble-free driving, Kangoo gets a speed limiter as standard from the Privilège
version upwards (and as an option on Alizé), and this feature appears on Confort and Grand Confort versions of Kangoo Express.

Wide range of powertrains

Kangoo Génération 2007 is available with an extended range of powertrains, starting with three of versions of the 1.5 dCi unit, rated at 60, 70 and 85 hp. The petrol engines are carried over too: 75 hp 1.2 16v with manual gearbox, and 95 hp 1.6 16v with manual or proactive automatic gearbox. There is also a 1.2 LPG version.
All Kangoo Génération 2007 engines meet Euro 4 emission standards.

Worldwide sales topping two million

Since it was first released in 1997, over two million Kangoos have been made, at plants in Maubeuge (France), Cordoba (Argentina) and Casablanca (Morocco). With 2006 sales of 132,840 units in Western Europe (including France) by the end of October, Kangoo ranked second in its market segment (cars plus light commercial vehicles), with a 20.7% share, ahead of Peugeot Partner, VW Caddy and Fiat Doblo. Over the same period, Kangoo (car and van versions) led French sales charts for this market segment with 53,529 units, a 39.8% share, ahead of Citroën Berlingo and Peugeot Partner.
